Clay Hudson

The hallmark of Clay Hudson's successful career has been diversity.

In 1968, Clay joined the firm as an Articling Student where, in addition to his student at law duties, he revised approximately one half of a nationally distributed tax service, "Canadian Income Tax". On being called to the bar, Clay rejoined the firm initially practicing almost exclusively tax law. However, as his practice grew, Clay became increasingly involved in mergers and acquisitions. In addition, during this period, Clay found the time to:

• Teach income tax in the Bar Admission Course,
• Author the book "The Land Transfer Tax Act, 1974".
• Establish, along with colleagues, the Canadian Environmental Law Research Foundation and the Canadian Environmental Law Association.

In 1979, Clay was lured away from the practice of law into real estate development. For the next 17 years, Clay developed, together with his partners, real estate projects at various locations in Canada and the United States. Throughout this period, Clay became involved in every aspect of the business from raising capital, processing land through the planning process, servicing and developing land, and creating residential subdivisions.

In 2000, Clay rejoined the firm, his main practice areas consisting of Business and Estates Law. Clay also heads up the Firm's estate, estate planning and charities practice. Clay's clients include a number of small and medium sized businesses and not-for profit corporations as well as a number of Canada's public charities.
