Les Mason

Les, or "Dunc" as some of Les's dearest and closest refer to him, can often be found enjoying a quick 18 holes on the Links, skiing the deep powder of the rocky mountains, or playing a few sets of tennis at many of Toronto's local courts. Les has also been spotted relaxing in Ontario's remote northern wilderness during his annual four man canoe and camping excursions.

Les's passion and ability for matters outside of the office are exceeded only by his skills, dedication and intensity for matters inside the office. No matter how large or small an issue, Les has the unique ability to provide his clients with sound legal solutions tailored to both their individual business needs and budget. Similar to his many extra circular pursuits, Les's practice is richly diverse. He is regarded as an expert in all real property matters and is equally skilled at advising his clients in corporate and commercial contexts.

On the Real Estate side, Les has been a commercial real estate lawyer since 1969. His expertise includes condominium development, land assemblies, commercial and industrial projects, commercial leases, and a broad range of other commercial real estate matters. Les also acts for institutional lenders in mortgage financings, loan realizations and restructurings including protecting lenders' rights in respect of debtor proposals.

On the Commercial side, Les's expertise includes limited partnerships, general partnerships, joint ventures, real estate syndications and licenses.

Les has authored:

"How to Improve the Financeability of Real Estate", Insight
"Real Estate Financing in Today's Competitive Market", Insight

Les was Chairperson of:

"Partnerships, Limited Partnerships And Co-tenancies", Insight
"Real Estate Development And Construction Financing", Insight
"Negotiating And Drafting Commercial Leases",Institute for International Research
"Commercial and Retail Leasing", Canadian Institute

Whether a client's issue is real estate, or commercially based, Les has the ability to tailor a legal solution that is business minded, effective and economical.... and on sunny days, hopefully achieved in a timely enough manner for Les to score a quick 18 holes.
