Peter Neilson is schooled in the classics - ancient Greek and Latin. He is an avid reader, including history, biographies and decent fiction. He loves to travel, and often attends classic automobile shows (as an observer, a judge and an exhibitor). But, that is all just one side of Peter. To see the other side, you'll have to watch him honing his driving skills at the Mosport track.
Clearly, Peter makes it a point to spend his time doing the many and diverse things that he enjoys. Fortunately for Shibley Righton, one of those things is the practice of law.
Peter's practice includes general commercial law and the acquisition, sale, leasing and financing of all kinds of real estate. Peter has acted on numerous secured lending transactions, acting for both lenders and borrowers, and has experience in related mortgage remedies and insolvency matters. As well, Peter has acted for both landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters. He supports the firm's Corporate Commercial and Education groups on related matters.
Peter also assists clients with their general commercial problems and wills and estates, and his clients include individuals, businesses, not-for-profits and private schools.
Outside of the office (when not pursuing his other, varied, interests), Peter is a member of the Business Affairs Committee of the Toronto Board of Trade. He is also a director and past president of the University of Toronto Schools Alumni Association, and serves as the alumni Chair of the competitive Debating Club at Hart House.
