Nicole Salama joined the litigation group at Shibley Righton LLP upon her call to the bar in the summer of 2005. She articled at a downtown Toronto litigation boutique that specialized in commercial litigation and management side labour and employment law.
Nicole graduated from Queen’s University, on the Dean’s Honour List, with a first class Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Sociology. As an undergraduate student Nicole was involved in various extra-curricular activities both within the university and the Kingston community at large. One of her pet projects was running a volunteer tutoring program that matched Kingston area high school students with Queen’s students.
While attending her graduation in June 2001, Nicole realized that four years in Kingston was inadequate so she decided to stay on for another three years to attend law school. During her time as a law student Nicole continued her involvement in the Queen’s community and volunteered with several law school and university wide committees. Nicole held positions as both an Associate Editor at the Queen’s Law Journal and as a student caseworker with the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic. Upon her second graduation from Queen’s Nicole was awarded the George Norman Leipnik Award in Professional Responsibility and Skills Training for her work in Client Counselling and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Nicole’s academic and work experiences have infused her with a passion for the law, strong problem solving capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills.
In her spare time Nicole enjoys travelling, reading and practising yoga. One day she hopes to combine her fondness for both travelling and fitness to run the Honolulu marathon.
