John De Vellis

John began his advocacy training early on in his legal career. While still in law school, he spent eight months working full time at a legal aid clinic. The experience taught him the impact that the law — and passionate advocates — can have on people’s lives. After his call to the Bar, he joined another downtown firm and carried on a broad civil litigation practice with an emphasis on employment law and commercial litigation. He left to become legal counsel to a public interest organization, subsequently joining Shibley Righton LLP’s energy practice at the beginning of 2006.John has represented clients before all levels of court including the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court, the Ontario Energy Board and numerous other administrative tribunals. John graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2002. Prior to law school, he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from York University and a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto.
