With her lifelong passion for reading, writing and public speaking, a legal career was the natural choice for Jessica.
Jessica obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she graduated with Distinction. Jessica was a member of the Dean’s Honour List, as well as the recipient of various scholarships, including the Clayton Johnston scholarship for outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. While at Laurier, Jessica got an early start on her legal studies as a volunteer with Student Legal Services, where she advised and assisted fellow students on landlord and tenant matters.
In her first year of law school at the University of Western Ontario, Jessica was awarded a Dean of Law scholarship for excellence in her pre-law studies. Jessica was actively involved in student life as an executive member of Western’s Pro Bono Students Canada chapter, where she oversaw pro bono legal research projects for various community organizations, and also as Chair of the Student Legal Society Merchandise Committee where she put her love of all things fashion to use in outfitting her fellow students.
After summering with a full-service firm in London, Ontario, Jessica articled with Shibley Righton LLP from 2008-2009. Following her call to the bar in June 2009, Jessica joined Shibley Righton LLP as an associate in the insurance defence group.
Outside of work, Jessica is a sports enthusiast whose talent for cheering on her favourite teams far exceeds her actual athletic ability. Originally from rural southwestern Ontario, Jessica and her husband enjoy exploring the city and hosting visiting family and friends.
