Accounting Clerk – Toronto Office (1 – 2 years’ experience)

Shibley Righton LLP is seeking an Accounting Clerk to work within their busy Accounting Department. The accounting clerk will provide day to day support on all accounting related tasks particularly with bank reconciliations.

This position reports to the Controller. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in reviewing and posting monthly accounts.
  • Post daily general receipts.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Preparing wire payments.
  • Ordering bank drafts.
  • Bank Runs.
  • Prepare month end reports.
  • Various accounting reconciliations.
  • Back up to Trust and Payables.
  • Journal entries, Write-offs and WIP transfers.
  • Deal with inquiries from staff and lawyers.
  • Filing of accounting records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You have at least one year of previous accounting experience in a law firm or other professional services environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills and an eye for detail are a must. Strong computer skills including intermediate knowledge of excel is an asset. You are a team player and will work closely with the other clerks in accounting. Must be comfortable interacting with partners and management on a regular basis.

Trust / Billing Clerk – Toronto Office (1 – 2 years’ experience)

Shibley Righton LLP is seeking a Trust / Billing Clerk to work within their busy Accounting Department.

This position reports to the Controller. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and post all billing accounts.
  • Post daily trust receipts.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Trust investments.
  • Preparing outgoing wire payments.
  • Ordering bank drafts.
  • Bank Runs.
  • Prepare various month end reports.
  • Various accounting reconciliations.
  • Back up to Payables.
  • Fixed Asset reconciliation.
  • Journal entries, Write-offs and WIP transfers.
  • Deal with inquiries from staff and lawyers.
  • Filing of accounting records.
  • Monthly HST returns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You have at least one year of previous experience in a law firm or other professional services environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills and an eye for detail are a must. Legal Assistant / Condo Law (3+ years experience) 

SHIBLEY RIGHTON LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to work in our Condominium Law Group (solicitor side) to work with Associates.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a positive attitude who is a team player. Candidates must be thoroughly computer literate and comfortable working in a paperless environment.

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills:

  • Create, edit and finalize legal documents
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately and effectively
  • Strong organization skills and meticulous with follow up
  • High attention to detail
  • Takes initiative and anticipates the lawyers' needs
  • Ability to communicate directly with clients in a professional manner
  • Document Management System (DMS) experience an asset
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in preparation of monthly accounts & billing
  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive client matters
