Jacob Benson
Jacob is a Litigation Associate in our Windsor office with a focus on dealing with problems between, and with, people – from Labour & Employment Law to Civil Litigation, and Education & Public Law. Prior to becoming licensed, Jacob completed his Articles with Shibley Righton LLP, gaining experience in a wide array of practice areas.
Jacob attended law school in the Dual JD program concurrently at both the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy, earning both a Canadian and an American JD. Jacob particularly enjoys navigating the complexities of the intersection between interpersonal relationships and the law and while at law school, Jacob discovered that he truly enjoys advocacy. Among his law school achievements, he entered the Patrick A. Keenan Appellate Advocacy Competition and was awarded the title of Co-Champion.
Outside of his law practice, Jacob tries to focus his free time on keeping an active body and mind, which means he enjoys travel, sports, reading, and writing. If given the opportunity, he loves to get away for a camping & hiking trip, or exploring the culture of other cities and countries (including trying different foods of all cuisines from around the world). When he's not indulging his explorer interest, Jacob is training to achieve his goal of running the only Marathon in the world that crosses international borders twice – the Detroit Free Press Marathon.
