Toronto's first non-smoking apartment building could find itself exposed to human rights complaints, says Toronto condominium lawyer Deborah Howden.
Alto, the recently-completed 95-unit building in Toronto's Little Portugal neighbourhood, claims to be the city's first apartment building to ban smoking.
Andrew Noble, a policy analyst for the Non-Smokers' Rights Association and Smoke-Free Housing Ontario, told the Toronto Star that he was “thrilled by the development“.
