Toronto condominium lawyers Armand ConantDeborah Howden and John De Vellis are set to present at the upcoming 20th annual Condominium Conference, hosted by the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario and the Toronto and area chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute.


On Nov. 11, from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m., Armand Conant, partner and head of the condominium law group at Shibley Righton LLP, will moderate a panel exploring ‘Rapid Fire Legal Issues.’ The session will feature six experts from the industry who will discuss Condo Act reform, the creation of the two authorities (licensing of managers and the Condo Authority), the Occupational Health and Safety Act, borrowing, Tarion reform, harassment, decriminalization of marijuana, grow-ops, reserve fund studies, development/developer issues, drones, and more.


On Nov. 11 from 11:45 a.m. – 12: 45 p.m., Deborah Howden, partner with Shibley Righton LLP, will moderate a session on ‘Human Rights/Barrier Free Accessibility,’ where panellists will discuss the interplay between the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Actregarding barrier-free access in condominium buildings.


And, on Nov. 11 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., John De Vellis, partner with the firm, will participate in a panel discussion entitled “Technology in Condos: Managing a Smart Condo Building.” Speakers will explore how technology is changing all aspects of managing a condo — from security systems, board meetings, building automation systems, flying drones and more, and discuss what the future has in store for condo managers.


The conference will take place on Nov.11 and 12 at the Toronto Congress Centre, North Building, located at 650 Dixon Rd. in Toronto.
